TownSq has been working hard behind the scenes to bring a much-anticipated update to our Digital Voting feature, Secret Ballot. With this new enhancement, admins can allow the voters in a community to submit their votes anonymously. There are many potential benefits to this type of vote, including:
- Making residents feel more comfortable and willing to vote since their decision is not revealed
- Keeping an election fair
- Increasing quorum
- Removing bias
- Preventing fallout from voter choices
For those users who have the Digital Voting feature, creating a secret ballot is easy. Simply complete the following steps to get started:
1.) Log in to TownSq and select“Digital Voting” from the left-hand menu.
2.) Select the “+ Create Ballot”button in the top right-hand corner.
3.) A new menu will appear. Fill out the following information: Title, Description, Voting frame, Voting group, and create the Questions for the ballot.
4.) Under the new “ballot Opening”section, select Secret.
5.) Once you have completed your ballot, select “Create.”
Admin will still see the status during the voting stage (how many votes and the percentage of votes) and be able to download the results as a PDF or Excel file once voting is complete. However, the selections made by those who voted will not be visible, only the names and addresses that participated in voting and the outcome.
With this new feature enhancement, we anticipate the number of votes conducted in a community will grow, and communities will see an uptick in voter participation.
